CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES 
1 c. shortening
2/3 c. sugar
1 1/3 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs, beaten well
2 2/3 c. plus 4 tbsp. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 c. nuts, chopped
1/2 c. coconut
2-3 tbsp. milk

Cream shortening and sugars. Beat in vanilla. Beat in eggs. Beat mixture for 1 minute. Sift flour, baking soda, and salt. Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture. Stir in chocolate, nuts, and coconut. Mix thoroughly with a wooden spoon. Grease cookie sheets and drop dough by the tablespoon. Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes.
