1 c. shortening
1 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
3 beaten eggs
3 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix ingredients together and place a small amount of date filling on top of each cookie, put a little cookie dough on top of filling. Bake at 350 degrees until done.

DATE FILLING:

2 c. cut up dates
1/2 c. sugar
2 tsp. flour
Pinch of salt
1 c. water

Bring to a boil.
