PLACEK (COFFEECAKE) 
2 c. lukewarm milk
1 pkg. yeast
3 tbsp. sugar
3 c. flour
1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
6 eggs
4 c. flour
1 tbsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
Rind of lemon
Dash nutmeg

Add yeast into milk to which 3 tablespoons sugar has been added. When dissolved stir in 3 cups flour. Beat with wooden spoon. Let rise double.

Meantime, combine remaining ingredients. (Add eggs one at a time as you beat with mixture). When sponge has risen, combine the two mixtures, adding plumped white raisins if desired. Place dough in 4 greased loaf pans or one greased 9 x 13 baking pan and 2 greased round layer cake pans. Top with crumbs. Let rise 45 minutes to 1 hour.

Bake 30 minutes at 375 degrees.

CRUMBS:

3/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. flour
1/4 c. soft butter
1/4 c. chopped nuts
