AUNT MARY BURGESS' GINGERBREAD 
1 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. white sugar
1 c. molasses (bring to a boil)
1 c. butter
1 c. buttermilk
2 eggs
3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/4 tsp. mace
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream butter and sugars. Add egg and molasses, mixing well. Sift together dry ingredients and add to first mixture; add buttermilk and beat until smooth. Pour into lightly greased and floured square pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes.
