IRISH SODA BREAD | |
2 1/2 c. flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. baking soda 2 tbsp. sugar 5 tbsp. butter 1 tbsp. caraway seeds 1 c. raisins 1 egg 3/4 c. buttermilk Iron skillet Mix 1 egg and milk, set aside. Measure seeds and raisins, set aside. Everything else mix with a pastry blender. Add other ingredients. Mix. Knead a little. Shape into a round loaf in skillet. Press flat a little. Cut an "X" on top. Bake at 375 degrees for 50 minutes. Cool 15 minutes before serving to make it easier to cut. |
