ANGEL BISCUITS | |
5 c. unsifted flour 1 c. shortening 1 pkg. dry yeast 1 tbsp. baking powder 2 tbsp. warm water 1/4 c. sugar 1 tsp. baking soda 1 1/4 tsp. salt 2 c. buttermilk, room temperature Sift dry ingredients together. Dissolve yeast in 2 tablespoon warm water. Add to buttermilk. Cut shortening into dry ingredients. Stir buttermilk-yeast mixture into flour mixture and mix well. Turn out on lightly floured board and add flour if needed for soft dough. Roll out 1/4 inch thick. Cut with biscuit cutter and dip into melted butter and fold over. Bake in a preheated 400 degree oven for 15 minutes. Bake without letting rise. The dough maybe kept in the refrigerator until needed. Also, good with raisins added. |
