This beef stew recipe is as easy as ABC. Brown stew beef 2 pounds with 2 tsp. flour. Put in crock pot along with 3 tsp. minced garlic and one onion. Cook in crock pot on high for 45 minutes then add 5 potatoes in small bite size pieces along with 1 bag frozen vegetables, 1 can beef broth and 1 beef bouillon cube and one cup of water with 1 tsp. kountry kitchen. Perfect in about 3 hours.

An alternative to the recipe above is one referred to as Crock Pot beef stew (2). There is no need to brown the chuck cubes and the 12 hr (low) cook time is perfect over-night or all day for lunch thermos or dinner use. I add carrots, but otherwise follow the recipe pretty closely. It came with my original crockpot many years (and pots) ago. Recently have been stirring in a half cup of red wine (whatever). More of a Bourgonesque bowl.

Has anyone ever tried this recipe using Elk Meat. My husband was giving several lbs of Elk Meat steaks and I thought stewing it would be good. Any ideas out there?

LOVE LOVE LOVE this recipe!! I've never made beef stew before, so while I was at the store i looked online to find an easy recipe so I could get all the ingredients!! Man-o-man, am I glad I found this! Everyone enjoyed it (even my husband who is PICKY to say the least lol). I did not see the McCormicks beef stew seasoning packet, so I used the Lipton Onion Soup Mix Beefy Onion flavor packet instead, and followed everything else to the "T". I also used two of those packets because I had a lot of meat!! AWESOME recipe!! Thank you!! I will be using it again!
