LONG JOHN RECIPE | |
2 pkg. yeast 3/4 c. scalded milk 1 c. flour 2 eggs 1/2 c. warm water 1/4 c. sugar 1/3 c. shortening 3 1/2 c. flour Soak yeast in warm water for 5 minutes. Pour scalded and cooled milk over 1/4 cup sugar and a pinch of salt. Add 1 cup flour and beat until smooth. Beat in shortening and eggs. Add 3 1/2 cups flour and mix to a soft dough. Turn out on lightly floured board. Knead for 5 minutes. Let rise 1/2 hour. Roll and let rise until very light. Cut into strips and fry. Fill with cream filling. |
