BARBECUED SPARE RIBS 
4 lbs. spareribs, country style
1 onion, peeled & quartered
2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper

Place ribs, onion, salt, pepper in 3 quarts of water. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, covered 1 1/2 hours or until tender; drain. Meanwhile, make sauce. Combine all ingredients, simmer uncovered 1 hour, stirring occasionally.

BARBECUE SAUCE:

1/2 c. cider vinegar
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1/2 c. catsup
1/2 c. chili sauce
1/4 c. Worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp. chopped onion
1 tbsp. lemon juice
1/2 tsp. dry mustard
1 clove garlic, crushed
Dash cayenne

Brush ribs with sauce. Broil 5" from heat 10 minutes each side. (I just brush them and grill them until I think they are ready.)
