“EUNICE'S EASY APPLE DUMPLINGS” IS IN:

EUNICE'S EASY APPLE DUMPLINGS
4 large apples, peeled, cored and quartered
2 cans Crescent Rolls
1 cup Orange juice
1 cup sugar
1 to 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
2 sticks butter

DO NOT PREHEAT OVEN:

1. Grease a 9x13-inch casserole dish.
2. Wrap each apple wedge in a crescent roll so it is completely or mostly encased in the dough. Arrange evenly in prepared dish.
3. In a small saucepan over medium heat - combine orange juice, sugar, cinnamon and butter. Cook stirring, until sugar is dissolved. Pour over dumplings.
4. Set over to 350°F and bake dumplings 25 to 30 minutes, or until golden brown. Serve warm with the sauce (can add whipped topping)

This recipe is amazing, yet so simple. If you have any leftovers, put dumplings into a bowl - spoon a little sauce over - and microwave for about 25 seconds. This will definitely become a family favorite.

This serves 16: Recipe may be halved.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.

If you do want to reheat later... simply take one dumpling - put a little dab of the juice (now thickened)... on the top... Nuke it for 20 seconds... Perfection! Like you just pulled it out of the oven...

I made a few adjustments - added raisins inside the dumplings and added some vanilla to the sauce. I also considered adding some almonds on the top, but not sure if they would burn when cooking.

Love the simplicity of this recipe. Thanks so much!

I was a little sceptical but after making I used gala apples, these were great. the rolls were fine, and the liquid thickens up with a hint of orange. not overly sweet but pretty sweet can do with half the sugar i am sure. highly recomend and will make again! Thank you for posting this! I sprinkled more cinn. on the rolls before I rolled the apple up.

This was a really good recipe... they just came out of the oven... And they are awesome... My only advice is to only put about 1/2cp of the sauce on while it is baking just because it makes it take ten min longer to cook with all the sauce.. And the top gets a little darker..

My kids used to make the marshmallow, cinnamon, sugar, crescent rolls when they were little. I wanted to make something like that, but different with my grandkids. Found this recipe. Even better than the original and so much easier!!! Plus with an apple! I cut the recipe in half and it was still amazing!! Sharing it with everyone!!

I have made this recipe several times now and it is a BIG HIT!! My husband says it is the BEST!! I only made two "small" changes...first, I sprinkle cinnamon/sugar on the crescent rolls before rolling up the apples and second, I preheat the oven. Either way, they are a new favorite!!! I'm even going to make them for Thanksgiving this year.

Phyllis, are you pouring the sauce over the appless then baking and saving some for when done? It would seem to me that the crescent rolls would be mushy.

 Phyllis (Virginia) replies:
Yes - you do pour the sauce over the dumplings. This dish does become golden & bubbly. You will love it!
