MARIANNE'S HEALTHY MARINARA
SAUCE
 
1 c. onions, chopped
3 tbsp. olive oil
4 (28 oz.) can tomatoes, crushed (drained if you choose)
1 (6 oz.) tomato paste
2 tsp. basil
1 tsp. salt

Saute onions in olive oil for 5 minutes. Transfer to cooking pan and add tomato and spice ingredients. Other Italian spices such as garlic can be added to taste. Simmer one hour until thick. This recipe feeds four people. To feed two, cut recipe in half except use entire 6 ounce can of tomato paste.
