CHOCOLATE APPLESAUCE CAKE 
BATTER:

1/2 c. butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 c. applesauce
3/4 c. cocoa
2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda

TOPPING:

3 tbsp. sugar
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 1/2 c. chocolate chips

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and beat until fluffy. Combine flour, baking soda and cocoa. Add dry ingredients and applesauce alternately to creamed mixture to make a batter. Pour into a greased and floured 9x13 inch cake pan. Mix topping ingredients and sprinkle over batter. Bake at 350 degrees until cake tests done, approximately 40 minutes.
