OLDTIME BUTTERMILK BISCUITS 
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
3 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
5 tbsp. shortening
1 c. buttermilk

Cut shortening into dry ingredients. Add buttermilk and stir until dough follows fork around bowl. Roll out and cut into rounds. Bake 12-15 minutes at 400-425 degrees, depending on oven. Makes 10-12 (2 1/4 inch) biscuits.
