2 c. sugar (brown or white)
1 c. shortening
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 c. boiling water
1 tsp. allspice
1/2 box raisins

Simmer these ingredients three minutes and let cool. Then add:

2 eggs
1 tsp. baking powder
4 c. plain flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. nuts
Fruit cake fruit (amount desired)

Mix all together. Bake one hour in slow oven. 1 tube pan or two loaf pans.
