MERINGUE KISSES 
1/2 c. egg whites (4 med.)
1 1/4 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. shredded coconut or finely chopped nuts

Heat oven to 325 degrees. Beat egg whites until frothy. Gradually beat in sugar. Continue until very stiff and glossy. Stir in salt, vanilla, and coconut. Drop heaping teaspoonfuls of dough 2 inches apart on ungreased brown wrapping paper on baking sheet. Bake to delicate brown and set. Remove paper with baked kisses; lay wet towel on hot baking sheet. Place paper of kisses on towel; let stand 1 minute. Steam will loosen kisses. Slip off with spatula. About 3 dozen.
