BOLOGNA SANDWICH
Buy some ham or bologna (one pack) and some bread (one loaf) and buy a little jar of mustard. Then you make yourself a bologna sandwich. Put the bread down on the table, put the bologna on it. Spread the mustard on the bologna. Put another piece of bread on the bologna, then eat it with some milk. Then clean up.

I too enjoy a good baloney sandwich. (BTW, Hellman's is the preferred mayo!) But when I was in grade school in Harvard, Nebraska the cafeteria served something called Flying Saucers. All the kids loved it! You fry a piece of thick baloney, place a scoop of thick mashed potatoes in the center and top it with Cheez Whiz! It looked like a flying saucer. It was sooo awesome!! I haven't thought about that in years!! Thanks for the memories!

Humpty Dumpty Dill Pickle chips always added so much depth to this sandwich, unfortunely Humpty Dumpty is no longer, just can't find a dill pickle chip that measures up to HD brand. I have also made a bologna snowflake sandwiches, make two folds and then make little bites in the folded bologna, and then open slice up, and voila, a beautiful snowflake, no two are the same, quite exciting. thanks for the great recipe, it's a keeper.

the best bologna sandwich is a steamed hot dog bun with mustard down the middle. roll a cheese stick in slice if bologna, and put in bun. can heat to melt a little or leave as is. use an condiment ou like, but we like plain. my daughter/grand-daughter loved these to take for lunch at school. delicious.

Oui Oui, Apparently I've wasted my time on French culinary education. Has anyone tried bologna croque-monsieur (Monte Cristo) for those of you from Rio Linda LOL

Here's the recipe I developed while class leader at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris France!

Prepare bologna sandwich as above but also add cheese of your choice then dip in egg batter and deep fry to a golden brown Serve warm with a fine French Bordeaux
Moi Amor Monte Cristo Bologna sandwich. Oui-Oui

Used thin bagel slices instead of bread, keeping the mustard from coming out of the bagel hole was a little tough, but lemme tell ya, the bologna fits the bagel thins perfectly!

I use a slight variation of this recipe, but it is not too complicated...I substitute mayo for the mustard. YUM!

This recipe, along with a few other Bologna specialties, has been passed down in my family for the past 5 generations. To have it "Outed" like this on the Internet is a shocking blow. I really don't know if I'll ever recover.

...OK,...I'm over it. So here's another: Cut a half inch thick slice of that lips and ahh... bologna and chuck it into a smallish fry pan that you've melted a pat of butter in and poured a whole 5 oz bottle of cheap hot sauce into.
Franks "Red Hot" Sauce do. Let it cook and reduce till the sauce is thick and pastelly (is that a word) stuck to that fine cut of meat.

Assemble onto a kaiser roll (lettuce etc. at your option) and wash down with a Corona, or other tasty beverage.

An "appetizer to remember" can also be had by "cutting the Bologna", something I'm told to do quite often, into 3/4" cubes giving them the hot sauce treatment then dumping a boatload of these, skewered with toothpicks onto a platter.
Bon appetit

This recipe only gets 4 stars, and here's why. The baloney has to be pan fried in olive oil, 2 slices, the bread has to have on the bottom slice, ketchup, and on the top slice, mustard and plenty of both, and when you put the baloney on the bread, you have to slip a slice of american cheese in between while the baloney is still hot, so the cheese is melted. Also, the bread has to be fresh, not toasted or grilled.

And heres another idea from my grandfather, slice bread, 2 slice of bologna, 1 slice american cheese, 1 slice bread, 2 sclices of bologna, 1 slice cheese, miracle whip, and finish with another slice of bread. It's AWESOMELY GOOOOOD!!!!!
