BOLOGNA SANDWICH
Buy some ham or bologna (one pack) and some bread (one loaf) and buy a little jar of mustard. Then you make yourself a bologna sandwich. Put the bread down on the table, put the bologna on it. Spread the mustard on the bologna. Put another piece of bread on the bologna, then eat it with some milk. Then clean up.

A thick slice of bologna with a slice of tomato and a slice of Vidalia onion, plus mayo. is the best. I also love a thick slice of bologna on crackers.

Love this! Try this variation the next time you wanna try something different!! Toast your bread before you make your sandwich! It adds a certain crunchiness to it and warms the bologna up a bit...Apply Miracle Whip, (not Mayo) Nacho Cheese Doritos, and ENJOY!!! That's how we do it here in Michigan!

I found a recipe similar to this one years ago and have used it ever since. The main difference is to make two diagonal cuts when the "samwidge" is constructed, then garnish each quarter with a toothpick. I always resort to this recipe when my wife is in bed sick and can't cook. The old adage, "Oscar Mayer has a way with B-O-L-O-G-N-A" is really true!!!

I have 2 recipes, 1.) when cooking in frying pan, add bar.b.q. sauce, simmer a lil, best ever, 2.) if your eating the sandwish cold, add some rippled potato chips in the sanwich between the 2 slices of meat, press down with hand, the greatest crispy sandwich of all.

In Iowa we grew up with "Sandwich spread" It's bologna, ham, sweet relish and mayo all ground together. Thick and very yummy. Spread on white bread with or without crusts. Heck we even serve em' at funerals. Good stuff. Great childhood memories. For awhile I was making a bologna sandwich a day...cheap white bread, ketchup and bologna...YUMM

I'm glad that I know there are other people out there like me! I love this recipe! I also grew up eating Bologna Soup, and various types of fried bologna...I must admit we were so poor that I couldnt wait to be a grown up so that I could have "real" Wonderbread and "real" Miracle Whip with Oscar Mayer Bologna....Ahhhhhh Good Times!

When I was in the Navy and had to guard a fence from midnight to oh-dark-thirty, I always looked forward to my "mid-rats" which was usually a slice of bologna and a slice of American cheese on white bread, with a packet of French's mustard and a packet of Kraft Miracle Whip and a half pint of milk. Sheer Nirvana at 0200!

For true variety, put a 1-inch slab of Bologna in a hickory smoker for about 2 hours, slice thin (hint: used pre-sliced bologna and you can skip that step) and serve with a dab of ketchup based BBQ sauce on white bread.

Try this variation: I substituted the bologna with pulled pork, used bbq sauce in place of mustard and a kaiser roll instead of the white bread. It was delicious!!
