OATMEAL COOKIES 
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 c. shortening
1/2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
2/3 c. sour milk (buttermilk)
1 1/2 c. oats
1 c. raisins
1 c. nuts (optional)

Mix salt, baking soda, flour, baking powder, cinnamon and cloves. Cream shortening and sugar until fluffy, and add eggs. Add dry ingredients to this alternately with milk in small amounts. Add oats and raisins. Drop by spoonfuls on greased cookie sheet. Bake on 350 degrees, 12 to 15 minutes.
