BEER BARREL ONION RINGS 
1 1/2 c. (1 12 oz. can) beer
1 tbsp. baking powder
1 egg, beaten
1 1/2 c. flour
Vegetable oil for deep-frying
1 lg. Spanish onion, sliced thin
Salt to taste

Combine beer, baking powder and egg in a large bowl. Stir flour into mixture. Heat oil. Separate onion into rings; dip rings in batter to coat. Fry a few rings at a time in the oil, until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.

NOTE: This batter is also good for frying tomatoes, zucchini, shrimp, etc.
