BAVARIAN APPLE TORTE 
1/2 c. butter
1/3 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. vanilla
1 c. flour

8 oz. Philadelphia cream cheese
1/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla

1/3 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
4 c. peeled thin apple slices
1/4 c. sliced almonds

Cream butter, sugar and vanilla. Blend in flour. Spread dough onto bottom and 2 inches high around sides of 9-inch springform pan.

Combine softened cream cheese and sugar, mixing until well blended. Add egg and vanilla; mix well. Pour into pastry-lined pan.

Combine sugar and cinnamon; toss with apples. Spoon apple mixture over cream cheese layer and sprinkle on nuts. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes. Reduce temperature to 400 degrees; continue baking 25 minutes. Cool before removing from pan. Makes 8-10 servings.
