CANDIED PECANS 
4 c. pecans, halves
1/2 c. real butter
2 egg whites at room temp.
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt

Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Toast pecans on baking sheet for 30 minutes. Remove nuts from pan, place butter in pan and melt in oven. Beat egg whites until stiff, slowly add sugar and salt. Beat u ntil thick. Fold in pecans.

Raise temperature of oven to 300 degrees. Spread the pecans carefully in the pan with melted butter. Bake for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes breaking up large pieces.

Makes a nice gift in little bags with bows.
