CARDAMOM SHORTBREAD | |
1 1/2 c. flour 1 c. powdered sugar 1/2 c. cornstarch 1/4 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. ground cardamom 1 c. butter, cubed small (not butter) 1 tsp. vanilla Granulated sugar for sprinkling on top Preheat oven to 325 degrees. In large mixing bowl combine dry ingredients. Using fingers, blend in butter and vanilla. Beat with electric mixer for several minutes until very smooth and completely blended. Press into ungreased 9-inch square pan or 9-inch pie pan. Sprinkle with granulated sugar. With knife cut halfway through in squares or crescents. Prick with a fork. Bake at 325 degrees about 30-35 minutes until golden. Cool slightly and cut through previously marked lines. Cool before removing from pan. Store in airtight container. Flavor improves after 2-3 days. Finely chopped or ground nuts may be added. |
