CARAMEL NUT POUND CAKE 
1/2 lb. butter
1/2 c. shortening
1 box light brown sugar
1 c. granulated sugar
5 eggs
3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. evaporated milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped nuts (pecans)

Cream butter, shortening and brown sugar; a little at a time. Beat well and add granulated sugar. Beat until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each; beat another 3 minutes. Sift together dry ingredients; add alternating with milk. Add vanilla and nuts. Bake in tube pan 1 hour and 30 minutes at 325 degrees.
