NUTMEG CAKE 
2 c. brown sugar
2 c. sifted enriched flour
1/2 c. Crisco
1 egg
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. sour cream
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. chopped nuts

With fingers blend brown sugar, flour and Crisco into crumbs. Put half the crumbs into prepared cake pan. To remaining crumbs stir in the egg, nutmeg, and the sour cream mixed with the soda. Pour batter over crumbs and sprinkle with chopped nuts. Bake square cake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes. Bake springform cake at 325 degrees for 1 1/2 hours. Makes a 9 inch square pan, 1 1/2 inches deep or a 7 inch springform pan 3 inches deep.
