NUTMEG CAKE | |
1/2 c. butter 3 eggs 1 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1 1/3 c. sugar 2 c. sifted all-purpose flour 2 tsp. nutmeg 1 c. buttermilk or sour milk Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift together flour, baking powder, soda, nutmeg and salt. Add alternately to creamed mixture with buttermilk, beating well. Turn into a greased 13 x 9 x 2 inch baking pan. Bake at 370 degrees for 25 minutes. TOPPING: 6 tbsp. butter 1 c. brown sugar 1/4 c. light cream 1/2 c. flaked coconut Combine butter, cream, and sugar; bring to a boil. Pour over warm cake. Top with flaked coconut. Bake 5 minutes more. Serve warm. |
