MA'S BISCUITS | |
2 c. flour 1 tbsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1 1/4 c. buttermilk 1/2 stick butter, melted Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Pour butter in biscuit pan and set aside. Mix all other ingredients well. Turn out dough onto well-floured board. Knead very little. Pat into 1/2 inch thickness. Cut with biscuit cutter, placing biscuits in pan. Turn each biscuit so that the tops and bottoms are both buttered. Bake 10-12 minutes. VARIATION: The original recipe called for turning the dough onto a floured board and shape into a loaf. "Pinch off" each biscuit, knead and shape into correct size. Continue as above. |
