QUICK CHILI | |
Taste great over rice or in a baked potato or just by itself. 1 lb. ground beef (or ground turkey) 1/2 chopped green pepper (optional) 1/2 chopped onion (optional) 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce (or 1/2 jar spaghetti sauce) 1 (15 oz.) can red kidney beans salt and pepper, to taste 1 tbsp. sugar hot sauce or cayenne pepper (to add a spicy bite) In a large sauté pan brown the ground beef (or turkey for the lighter version), drain all fat. Add green pepper and onion to the loose browned meat, if desired. Add tomato sauce - I prefer spaghetti sauce. Add kidney beans and all of the liquid from the can (do not drain!). Simmer for a few minutes, then season with salt and pepper to taste. Add sugar and hot spices if you like. Allow to simmer before serving. Takes no time to make this quick meal, about 20 to 30 minutes. Enjoy! Submitted by: Dianne, Long Island NY |
