DELTA DROOLS | |
1 c. whole wheat flour 1/2 c. all-purpose flour 3/4 c. nonfat dry milk powder 1/2 c. quick-cooking rolled oats 1/4 c. yellow cornmeal 1 tbsp. sugar 1/3 c. butter 1 egg, slightly beaten 1 tbsp. instant beef or chicken flavor broth, dissolved in 1/2 c. hot water Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Combine first 6 ingredients in a medium bowl. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in egg. Slowly pour broth over mixture, stirring with a fork to moisten. Turn mixture out onto a floured board and knead for 5 minutes. Divide dough in half. Roll out 1/2-inch thick and cut out using cookie cutters. Bake for 30 minutes or until firm and dry to the touch. Makes about 3 dozen biscuits. The dogs gobble up the biscuits made from both recipes, but the kids say they prefer this one the best. |
