OATMEAL CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES 
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 c. shortening
3/4 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. white sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. hot water
1 pkg. chocolate chips
2 c. oatmeal
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream sugar and shortening well. Add eggs. Add soda to hot water, and add to eggs and shortening. Add other ingredients. Drop by teaspoon on a cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees until done and brown, approximately 10 minutes.
