APPLE DUMPLINGS 
6-8 apples
1 c. sugar
2 c. water
3 tbsp. butter
1 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. Crisco
2/3 c. milk

Mix together sugar, water, butter and cinnamon in saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Let boil for 3 min. Set aside.

Combine flour, baking powder and salt, cut in Crisco. Stir in milk. Mix, knead, then roll out and cut into squares. Place slices of apples (coated with sugar and cinnamon) on square of pastry, place a dab of butter on apples. Bring up corners of pastry. Place in 13 x 9 baking dish. Pour cinnamon sauce over dumplings.

Bake at 350°F for 30 min. or until brown.
