APRICOT SQUARES 
1 c. sugar
2 c. flour
3/4 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. coconut
1/2 c. nuts
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
12 oz. jar apricot jam

Cream shortening and sugar and add egg; beat well. Mix all the rest of the ingredients except jam. Spread half the mixture in pan. Spread with ham, cover with remaining mixture. Batter will be thick so put mounds of batter on jam and use fingers to smooth over pan.

Bake until light brown. Cool. Cut in squares. 7 x 11 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 50 minutes.
