CONNECTICUT SUPPER 
2 lg. onions, sliced
2 tbsp. Crisco
2 lbs. lean beef cubes
1 c. water
2-3 lg. potatoes, sliced 1/8 inch thick
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 c. sour cream
1 1/4 c. milk
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. pepper
1 c. grated Cheddar cheese

Brown onions in Crisco. Add meat and water. Cover, simmer about 50 minutes. Pour into baking dish, place potato slices over meat. Blend soup, cream, milk, salt and pepper. Pour evenly over top. Bake uncovered 1 1/2 hours. Sprinkle cheese over top during the last 20 minutes of baking.
