CRUMB PIE 
CRUMBS:

2 c. flour
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
1/4 tbsp. baking soda

FILLING:

3/4 c. sugar
1 c. table syrup
1 pt. water
2 eggs
5 tbsp. flour
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix crumb topping first by blending with a pastry blender until mixture forms fine crumbs. Set aside. Cook ingredients for filling in a double boiler until thick. Pour filling into 3 (9") unbaked pie shells. Sprinkle crumbs over and bake at 450 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes or until crumbs are golden brown.
