STRING BEANS AND BEEF (Chinese) 
1/2 lb. beef (top round thinly sliced)
2 tbsp. soy sauce
1 tsp. sugar
1 tbsp. cornstarch
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. sherry
2 tbsp. oil
1 lg. (15 1/2 oz.) can or 1 pkg. frozen string beans
1/4 c. bean water, if canned beans are used
1 (4 oz.) can mushrooms, stems & pieces

Dredge beef with mixture of soy sauce, sugar, cornstarch, salt and sherry. Heat pan; add oil and saute the dredged beef a few seconds. Add beans and 1/4 cup of bean water. Simmer a few seconds or until beef and beans are tender. Do not over cook. Add mushrooms and simmer until hot. Serve hot over rice. Serves 4.
