LA SALSA DI ZIO GIOVANNI CLAM
SAUCE
 
1/2 c. olive oil
1 sm. onion
1 clove garlic
1/2 tsp. red pepper seeds
1 c. (28 oz.) plum tomatoes
1 tsp. oregano
1/2 tsp. basil
1/2 tsp. fennel seed
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. tomato paste
1 can clams with juice
1 tsp. parsley

Saute' onions in olive oil until soft. Add rest of ingredients. Cook for 1 hour. If thick, add water or red wine. (If using 2 cans clams, use whole can tomato paste).
