ITALIAN CREME CAKE 
1 stick butter
1/2 c. Crisco
2 c. sugar
5 egg yolks
1 tsp. baking soda
2 c. plain flour
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped nuts
1 c. coconut
5 egg whites, beaten

Cream butter, Crisco, and sugar. Add egg yolks. Sift flour and soda. Add to mixture with buttermilk, beginning and ending with flour. Stir in nuts and coconut. Fold in egg whites. Bake in three 9 inch cake pans at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until done.

ICING:

8 oz. pkg. cream cheese, room temp.
1/2 c. Crisco
1 box 10X powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
