BLACKBERRY CAKE 
2 c. sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. nutmeg
2 c. berries
1 c. lard
2 level tsp. baking soda
3 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon

Cream sugar and lard, add eggs one at a time until light and fluffy. Blend soda, baking powder, flour, nutmeg and cinnamon; add to cream mixture. Fold in berries. Bake in 2 (9 inch) round pans until center of cake comes clean when tested with toothpick (35 minutes).

CARAMEL ICING:

2 c. brown sugar
4 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
4 tbsp. butter
1 tbsp. corn syrup

Combine all ingredients, bring to a boil. Count to 60, remove from heat and beat until of spreading consistency.
