1/2 ripe avocado, diced or 1/2 c. chopped zucchini 1 med. tomato, chopped 3-4 tbsp. salad oil 1 tsp. lemon juice or vinegar 1 tsp. parsley flakes 1 1/4 tsp. onion salt 2 lb. ground beef 6 sm. loaves pita (pocket) bread 3-4 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce Combine avocado, tomato, 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, oil, lemon juice, parsley flakes and 1/4 teaspoon onion salt. Mix remaining 2 or 3 tablespoons Worcestershire and 1 teaspoon of onion salt with the ground beef; form into 12 thin patties. Place a spoonful of drained avocado mixture in center of 6 patties; top with remaining 6 patties and press edges together with a fork to seal. Grill over hot coals for about 10 minutes, turning once. Brush with liquid drained from avocado mixture while grilling. Slit outer edge of pita bread halfway around and insert burger. Makes 6 servings. |
