AMISH FRIENDSHIP BREAD | |
4 c. flour 2 c. milk 3 eggs 1 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp. salt 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda 3 c. sugar 2/3 c. oil 2 tsp. vanilla 2 tsp. baking powder 1 tbsp. applespice Day 1 pour starter into bowl with loose cover. Stir. (Sourdough starter may be made from a mix obtained from grocery store or a recipe for sourdough starter.) Do not refrigerate!!!! Day 2, 3 and 4 stir daily (mixture will bubble). Day 5 add one cup flour, one cup sugar and one cup of milk. Stir until smooth. Day 6, 7, 8, and 9 stir daily. Day 10 add 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar and 1 cup milk. Stir until smooth; take three cups starter and put in three small containers and give them to three friends with a copy of these instructions. Add to the remaining batter: oil, eggs, 2 cups flour, 1 cup sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, baking powder, salt, applespice and baking soda. Stir until smooth. Bake in well greased Bundt pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes. Do not use electric mixer or refrigerate!!!! Nuts, raisins, dates, etc., may be added to mixture before baking. |
