BREAD AND BUTTER PICKLES 
Cut into thin rings, 30 medium cucumbers (approximately 1 gallon, sliced).

8 med. onions, cut into rings
2 lg. red/green peppers, cut in fine strips

Place veggies in large bowl or kettle. Dissolve 1/2 cup salt in ice water and pour over. Let stand 3 hours; drain. Combine in large kettle: 5 c. vinegar 2 tbsp. mustard seed 1 tsp. turmeric 1 tsp. whole cloves

Bring to boil. Add drained veggies and heat to boiling point. Do not boil. Pack into sterile jars and seal. Makes 12 pints.
