GINGER COOKIES 
3/4 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup molasses
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/4 tbsp. ground ginger
1 egg
additional sugar, for rolling

Cream together shortening and sugar. Add molasses and mix well. Sift together dry ingredients. Add egg and flour mixture. Shape into small balls and roll in granulated sugar. Place on greased baking sheet and bake at 350°F for 12 minutes. Leave on sheet a few minutes before removing.
