SMOTHERED STEAK CASSEROLE 
1 lb. round steak, cut in pieces
2 tsp. salt
Dash of pepper
Flour
6 tbsp. shortening
2 med. potatoes, sliced
1 lg. onion, sliced
1 can biscuits

Season steak with salt and pepper, dredge in flour. Brown on both sides in shortening. Place 1/2 of steak in casserole. Add a layer of potatoes and a layer of onion. Season to taste. Repeat layers. Sprinkle 3 tablespoons flour over all. Cover with water. Bake at 300 degrees for 1 hour and 30 minutes. Increase heat to 375 degrees. Arrange biscuits on top of casserole and bake until biscuits are brown.
