NANIE'S ROUND ITALIAN COOKIES | |
4 c. flour 1 1/4 c. sugar 2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. baking soda 4 eggs 2 sticks melted cool butter 1 tsp. vanilla 1/4 c. milk 2 1/2 tsp. anise or lemon extract Sift together dry ingredients. Mix eggs, butter, vanilla, milk and extract together. Add dry ingredients to this mixture. (Use wooden spoon to mix.) Then add an additional 1/4 cup (or a little more) flour and mix with your hands. Mix is creamy. Form dough into 1-inch balls and place on greased cookie sheet (or ungreased non-stick pan). Bake at 350 degrees about 10-15 minutes. Cookies do not spread so balls can be placed close together. FROSTING: 1/2 box confectioners' sugar 2 tsp. butter 1/2 tsp. anise or lemon extract Add enough milk to make frosting consistency. Frost each cookie with a knife, then add a few multi-colored sprinkles to wet frosting. 7-8 dozen cookies. |
