CHERRY WINKS 
2 1/2 c. corn flakes or 2/3 c. cornflake crumbs
2 1/4 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. soft butter
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped nuts
1 c. chopped dates
1/3 c. finely cut maraschino cherries
18 maraschino cherries, cut in quarters

Crush corn flakes into fine crumbs; set aside. Sift together flour, baking powder, soda, and salt. Beat together butter and sugar until creamy. Add eggs and beat well. Stir in milk and vanilla. Add sifted dry ingredients together with nuts, dates, and finely cut cherries; mix well. Shape level tablespoonfuls of dough into balls. Roll in the cornflake crumbs. Place on greased baking sheets. Top each cookie with a quarter cut of maraschino cherry. Bake at 375 degrees 12 minutes or until lightly browned. 6 dozen cookies is the yield.
