BLACKBERRY JAM CAKE 
1 1/2 c. sugar
3/4 c. butter
5 eggs
1 1/8 c. buttermilk
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. cloves
3 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 tsp. nutmeg
3/4 tsp. spice
1 1/2 c. blackberry jam
3 3/4 c. flour

Cream sugar and butter. Separate 2 eggs and reserve whites for icing. Add 2 yolks and 3 whole eggs to sugar mixture. Mix all spices with flour. Add soda also. Mix with sugar mixture alternately with milk. Beat well. Add jam last. Bake in layers. Cool and stack.

ICING:

2 c. sugar
2 egg whites
1/2 c. water
2 c. marshmallows
1 tsp. vanilla

Boil sugar and water until it spins a thread. Pour gradually over beaten egg whites. Add marshmallows. Beat well and spread between layers of cake and on top.
