MEAT LOAF | |
1 1/2 lbs. ground beef 1/2 lbs. pork sausage (I use 1/2 roll Dean's mild sausage) 1/2 c. finely crushed saltines 1 c. finely chopped onion 1/2 c. finely chopped celery 1/2 c. finely chopped bell pepper 2 eggs, slightly beaten 1/2 c. catsup 3 or 4 tbsp. Pet milk 1 env. dry onion soup mix 1/2 tsp. salt and pepper (Saute before adding). Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine all ingredients with hands and shape into a loaf. Place in long baking dish and top with sauce, SEE BELOW. Bake for 1 hour. Makes 6 to 8 servings. SAUCE FOR TOPPING: 2/3 c. catsup 1/3 c. (packed) brown sugar Mix together until sugar is dissolved and pour over meat loaf before putting in preheated oven. |
