BRAN BLONDIES | |
3/4 c. sifted flour 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 c. all-bran (ready to eat bran) 1/2 c. chopped nuts 1/2 c. butter 1 c. brown sugar 1 egg, slightly beaten 1 tsp. vanilla 1/2 c. chocolate chips Sift together first 4. Mix in all-bran and nuts. Melt butter in saucepan. Remove from heat and stir in sugar. Cool. Stir in egg and vanilla. Add sifted dry ingredients a small amount at a time, beating well after each addition. Spread in greased 9 x 9 inch pan and sprinkle with chocolate bits. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Makes 24 bars, 2 x 1 1/2 inches. Brownies are done when still soft in center, but pulled away from sides of pan. |
