AUNT ETHEL'S ICE BOX COOKIES 
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. shortening
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda
3 1/2 c. flour
1 c. white sugar
2 lightly beaten eggs
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder

Mix well; put in bottom of gallon-size zip loc bag. Roll into 2-inch roll (as in jelly roll) at bottom of bag. Refrigerate at least 1 hour. Cut into 1/4-inch slices and bake until golden brown in a 350 degree oven. Makes about 4 rolls. Freeze remaining in their own zip loc bags and defrost as needed.
