MILKLESS, BUTTERLESS, EGGLESS
CAKE
 
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
2 c. water
1/2 c. shortening
4 c. seedless raisins
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cloves
2 tsp. salt
2 c. broken nuts
4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder

Combine sugar, water, shortening, raisins, spices and salt. Boil together 3 minutes. Cool. Sift dry ingredients and add to other mixture with floured nuts. Bake at 350 degrees about 45 minutes. When cool, spread with Caramel Icing. Keeps well. Serves 12 or more.
