SWEET CHUNK PICKLES 
Cut cucumbers in 1 inch pieces after cutting lengthwise into 4 first. Soak in salt water for 1 hour. 1/4 cup salt to a quart of water. Bring to a boil 2 cups sugar, 2 cups vinegar and 2 teaspoons pickling spices. Add drained cucumbers to this. Put in sterilized fruit jars and seal. A bit of green food coloring makes brighter color.
